Honors/Awards

The Marketing Area received the coveted Departmental Excellence in Teaching Award from Texas Tech University.

Dr. Donna Davis is the receipent of the 2009 President’s Excellence in Teaching Award.She was also awarded tenure and promoted to Associate Professor and has also been awarded the Georgie G. Snyder Professorship

Dr. Mayukh Dass has received the "Graduate Degree Holders Making a Difference" from University of Georgia on June 15 2009.


Dr. Bob McDonald is a visiting professor in the University of Queensland, Australia and is a TTU Service Learning Faculty Fellow Mentor.


Dr. Arnett is the receipent of the Emerald Literati Highly Commended Award for his article (with Shelby Hunt and Sreedhar Madhavaram) for their article in the Journal of Business and Industrial Management.


Dr. Davis has received the Texas Tech University Outstanding Student Organization Advisor Award and the Texas Tech University Alumni Association's New Faculty Award.  She is also a member of the TTU Teaching Academy.


Dr Roy Howell has received the Jagdish N. Sheth Award for the Best Article published in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching at Texas Tech University.  He is also a member of the TTU Teaching Academy.


Dr.Shelby Hunt is dentified as one of the 250 most “highly cited” economics and business researchers in the world (Thomson-ISI, 2003).  The Commitment-Trust Theory of Relationship Marketing” (J. Marketing, 1994, with Robert M. Morgan) has been identified as the most frequently cited article (for 1993-2003) in the economics-business literature (Thomson-ISI, 2003).  He has received the 2004 Sheth Foundation/Journal of Marketing Award, which recognizes the 1995 “Comparative Advantage Theory of Competition” JM article, with Robert M. Morgan, for its “long term contributions to the field of marketing and marketing theory.”  He is Identified as the scholar having the highest number of citations per year, per article in JM, JMR, and JCR (see Helm, et al. “Citation Frequency of Research” in 2003 AMA Educators’ Summer Proceedings).  He has won many other research awards. In addition, he received Texas Tech University President's Excellence in Teaching Award, the American Marketing Association/Richard D. Irwin Distinguished Marketing Educators Award and the Outstanding Marketing Educator Award, The Academy of Marketing Science.  He is also a member of the TTU Teaching Academy.


Dr. Debra Laverie has received both the University's Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award and the Outstanding Marketing Teacher's Award from the Academy of Marketing Science.  Dr. Laverie has also received the Outstanding Student Organization Advisor Award. She is also a member of the TTU Teaching Academy.



Dr. Robert McDonald has received the University's Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award, the highest University award for teaching.  We are the only department on campus with two Chancellors Teaching Award Winners.  Dr. McDonald has also won the Marketing Management Association Teaching Excellence Award.  He is also a member of the TTU Teaching Academy.


Dr. Tillmann Wagner has received the New Faculty Award, Texas Tech Alumni Association, the Best Paper Award (Track: Products and Services), AMA Winter Educators’ Conference, and the Best Paper Award (Track: Global Marketing), 2007 AMA Winter Educators’ Conference.
