At the Rawls College of Business, marketing students develop skills in market analysis, product and service development, pricing, advertising and promotion management, personal selling and sales management. They learn about the distinctive marketing activities for consumer product, service, and business-to-business markets in a global economy.
The Marketing Area offers distinctive and individualized programs for undergraduate and graduate students. Our faculty is published in the top journals of the marketing field, including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Academy of Marketing Science, and Journal of Retailing.
Our faculty members are committed to excellence in the classroom and have received coveted awards for our teaching excellence. The Marketing Area received the coveted Departmental Excellence in Teaching Award from Texas Tech University. Dr. Debra Laverie has received both the University's Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award and the Outstanding Marketing Teacher's Award from the Academy of Marketing Science.
The BBA in Marketing is designed to prepare students for a wide range of careers in marketing. Through internships and career nights, a variety of companies offer our graduates positions that lead to dynamic careers in the field of marketing. The Tech Marketing Association, which has received several awards, is open to all students, regardless of major. The organization hosts formal presentations as well as dinners from several Fortune 500 companies. TMA, the largest professional organization at TTU, provides assistance with placement searches and members enjoy social benefits as well.
